Sophia Rivera

Sophia Rivera is a euphonium performer, educator, and advocate for underrepresented voices in brass music. She is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Memphis, where she teaches euphonium and music courses as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. She holds degrees from the University of North Texas (M.M.) and Brandon University (B.M.).
An active soloist and chamber musician, Sophia has performed at major conferences, including the International Women’s Brass Conference, College Music Society, and South Central Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference, and has won multiple solo competitions. Passionate about new music, she has commissioned and premiered numerous works for euphonium. She also serves as an adjudicator and clinician at festivals and competitions across North America.
Dedicated to expanding the euphonium’s repertoire and role in chamber music, Sophia continues to push the instrument’s boundaries in both traditional and unconventional settings.
